Ford ranger

Post by RayRay on Thu Nov 07, 2013 11:32 pm

Too lazy to make a account on some ranger forum to fix my winter beater so I thought I may ask here. Anyway, I have a 93 ranger 3L it is the most base of the base models, unless you count the 4cyl I guess. The problem I am having is my ABS light is flashing... The problem with this is there is no ABS in my truck, nor was there ever (I'm assuming this because I'm 99.9% sure all my brake lines are stock. All my brakes are good and my fluid is full, I'm probably just going to remove the bulb or unplug it but I thought I would ask and see if anyone had any thoughts.

I should also mention that the light is not in the gauge cluster so even if that were swapped it wouldn't matter, it shines through a panel that encloses the gauge cluster. On top of that, all my other 'Idiot lights' work and are in the correct places so its not just a part of the dash harness that was installed wrong.

probably rear abs. find the wiring diagrams and unplug the hydraulic module, not just the light.

RABS was used on a lot of light pickups in lieu of variable proportioning valves to deal with the problem of having an incredibly light back end when unloaded but the majority of the vehicles mass when loaded. it often consisted of a single channel speed sensor and basically compared the rate of deceleration to a fixed value in memory and if you exceed that value, it assumes you've locked up a wheel and modulates pressure accordingly.

google finds this: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/829121-rear-abs-light-on-worry-about-or-forget-about-it.html it's about aerostars but they're technologically siblings.

There is no rear abs or it was removed, my rear brake line goes from the master cylinder to a proportioning valve on the. I solved the flashing issue though, it was because the brake/tail light fuse blew.
