Mk4 gearbox conversion

Has anyone done mk4 5speed conversion

Because I got myself a mk4 box and was curious of the ups and downs of installing it

sell it and get a mk3 w58 5-speed...

the 5 speed is just a W58 with electronic speed sensor instead of hte cable (Ie won't work unless you convert the speedo innards in the transmission and the wrong shifter location (it'll come up about under the handbrake)

I have a freshly rebuilt one, but it has the 7M bellhousing, is that what you need ?

thanks lads for the info yeh id gladly take the box off you but I'm in Australia looking into getting a r154 was just wondering if anyone had done it before or replaced the external shifter with a mk3 one(lever, plate etc.)

odd...what engine in a mk4 in AU (or anywhere) came with an R154 over there? all we got and all I'm aware of globally was the NA/W58, turbo/V160 which is a 6 speed.
