Fuel issues, help me get my car running Empty Fuel issues, help me get my car running

I bought an mx73,so far I've done w58 swap and had the engine completely rebuilt. It's starts and runs but is fairly rough at 650 rpm, timing has been set, fuel pump and filter replaced. The fuel pump won't prime won't prime when ignition is on so it has been bridged by connecting fp and b+ in the diagnosis thingo. The car can go through the rev range fine unless it's got a load on it, when driving it only goes up to 3000rpm until it starts to stutter. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advanced

check for vacuum leaks everywhere. try cleaning the afm connector. it could be limiting the range. did you set the timing with a timing light. a good point of reference is to put the distributor bolt in the center of the guide, it should run very good there if the distributor is on the correct tooth.

Also double check the cam timing, and timing on the countershaft that drives the distributor & oil pump.
It isn't all that uncommon to get them out of whack.

Not sure on the X7, but the fuel system on the X8 will not start up unless there is enough air moving through the air meter.
There is a switch on the flapper electronics board that activates the fuel circuit.
So by just turning on the key, will not start the fuel pump no matter what. Kind of a saftey feature.

Timing has been set with timing light, roughly checked for vacuum leaks but since I was short on time I wouldn't rule that out yet, it runs fairly good just moving in and out of the shed but as soon as it gets up to decent speeds it's starts to do it, I have also noticed that around that time a light comes on above the gear display (orange circle with stuff in it) when it has been driven at decent speeds if that makes a difference. It also starts now without bridging the fuses. When I was cleaning the afm plug I noticed that it looked like it was missing a connector in the plug ( third from the right(will post a photo o it when I get home))

Glad you figured it out. Lets you know to be more careful next time.

Fuel pump doesn't prime with the key "on". it primes with the key in "start" and is kept running by the fuel pump switch in the AFM when the engine is running. Just FYI.
