Noob here. Found an 86 cressi.

This car is located about 3 hours away from my town so I need all the info I can get before I decide to make the trip to drive/buy. I can't figure out how to paste pics on this phone but I know this:

Mileage :180k (mi)

Asking price: $1800

Bad:

1.bent rim (rim is stock, car is fitted with a full size spare)

2. Front bumper lip is missing. (I've heard this part called a spoiler also)

3.cracked windshield. (like a foot or two long)

4. Fading paint, missing some chrome.

5. In the pics the hood and trunk appear to have small gaps where they should fit together seamlessly.

6. No plastic cover over the steering column.

The good:

1. Brand new alternator

2. Carfax shows the car has been registered and driven every year since manufacturing. Also has not left the state. No major accidents reported. No damage reported. No much of anything reported. (Yes it was a legit carfax, cost me a legit 37 dollars lol)

3. Current owner is mechanically inclined.

4.has been kept in daily driving shape


I don't plan on paying full price. I will post again when I've had a chance to drive it. I really want a cressida and from what I've read the 5mge is the strongest and most affordable option to keep running. I don't want to pass this up but I also don't have a fortune to spend on restoration. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

well my car was in better shape when I got it... and I paid $800 about 2 years ago. The guy was asking $1000, there were a few others for sale, all right around the same price. if that helps. I would pay 1500 for one one in pretty damn good condition at this point though. it sounds like he is a bit out to lunch on his price, but if there is no other ones for sale and its in damn good shape otherwise offer him 1200
