Post by Mr Shakotan Mon Jun 17, 2013 9:19 am

Here is my cressida x7 wagon, its not much but i love it. Lowered on T3 front coilovers with reversed S13 camber plates, and camaro short stroke kyb shocks. 350z springs on AJPS adjustable spring perches. And unknown name rear adjustable panhard bar and lateral link a good friend from japan sourced from me at one of his junkyards there.  Im not going to do much more to it but get vintage jdm wheels, and swap the motor for a 1jz, which wont be anytime soon. Hope you guys like it

Awesome wagon Smile

I have one myself that's been sitting around for around 2.5 years.

Have Ground Control coilovers with MR2 shocks, the rear is on cut springs with camaro rear shocks.

Wheel specs are 15x10 -51 offset.

So you used 350z springs for the rear of your wagon??

The rear springs are 350z rear springs with 3 coils cut from them.  And i forget which year camaro shocks are on the rear but they are kyb agx adjustable and one of the shortest stroke shocks out. The rear panhard bar is a t3 adjustable panhard bar. I just found out by getting under there and actually cleaning it off to see.  The fronts are t3 weld on spring perches kit and springs with x7 cressida bilstiens shocks which i dont reccomend because there starting to get soft, but i got them cheap so cant complain. and Nissan s13 camber plates rotated to fit the holes drilled to match them on the shock towers

Just cut stock 350Z rear springs? How does it ride? Also, any chance of a part number on those rear shocks?

I see if i can find that for you i basically took a gamble on all of these parts and its sits low like i want but not exactly how i like it to so now I know what to try next time around. It rides really stiff and bouncey but mostly due to the fact i had to adjust the shocks to be extra stiff to keep the oilpan off the ground. Im glad i went with the camaro shocks over the tacoma toxic shocks i started to try cause i would be dragging ass if i did.

these lincs are sites to who makes the parts T3 site is a good place to pretty much get most of the parts you need minus the rear springs and shocks.  They also make spring rates to exact specs at no extra cost. And even though the ajps rear adjustable perches are for a corolla they fit. Just dont make the mistake of welding them collars together like i did. or there is no use in having them

So one could then infer that any rear adjustable spring perch for an AE86 will fit?

They do fit they just need to be welded in cause if for some reason your car were to raise up they would fall out as there is nothing to hold them in other then the weight of the car. I had them from when I had my ke70/ ae83 corolla that also had a solid rear axel. I never got around to usuing them on that car so i used them on the wagon. I tossed the springs that came with them because there is a big weight difference in the 2 cars

Interesting. I was wondering how that kind of setup stayed in. So you weld the threaded collar in place to the chassis seat, and that plus the short stroke Camaro shocks will hold the springs in, eh?

It should stay in on its own because of the weight of the car, but if for some reason i hit a dip or bump to hard and the rear axel was to decompress the whole spring set up could slip out so its welded it. And the collar was welded just to make sure the if the treads failed it stays in the position its in now. Cause honestly im about a inch or 2 off the ground and i do not need to be any lower. The short shocks should hold it in but i dont want to chance it if they fail. If you go this route dont weld the collars together until your sure you got it where you want it. Or dont do it at all. This is not a final setup for me I will redo it all when i got more money. Next go round im going to try and get t3's full front set up and there camber plates and arms for the front. And for the rear i will do the aj spring perches again but with a little softer spring about the same height as the cut springs with the camaro rear agx's again. You are welcome to come by anytime and check this out since your in Va your not to far from MD. Or if you came pass and get me and bring me back i would be glad to help you put yours together

Now this is just a theory but x7 sedan coilovers could work as well since they to also have pin top eye bottom instal points but the wagon shocks install at a angle and sedans install almost strait. Now im not sure if the car will act right cause sedan's have independant susp and wagons have solid rear. So im not sure if the shock mounts of the wagon can take the force of the shocks and spring pushing and pulling and the weight of the car bouncing all on the same mounting point. Plus x7 sedans coilovers cost to much to not work right or fit. I dont have that kind of money to play with

X73 and X72 have completely different rear suspensions. 73's have IRS from an MA60 celica-Supra, whereas the X72's have a solid rear axle mildly similar to MA40 Celica-Supra/AE86/KE70/etc.
