What's your budget? What's your skill set? What friends do you have?
I ask because if you know what you're doing and know people who can get the motor you can do the 2j swap for $2k with some tweaks. If you don't know what you're doing or friends then it could rin 3x that for a mediocre swap.

Re: engine swap ?
maybe for a gte but you can go to a junk yard and pull a ge and source out the drivetrain for so much less I would think between $1200-$1500 if you are smart with your money and just search and not buy the first thing you see. Price would also be a bit lower if you kept the auto in the car(but who wants that)

That's exactly what I mean. if you know what you're doing, where to look, and who to talk to...it's cheap. If you have to ask, it's obviously not.

Ya i think im at least around 15K into my gte swap in my X7, JZ IS NOT SO CHEAP!! 1j=not a lot of aftermarket support around here. 1.5,2jz= alot more support!

Re: engine swap ?
The CHEAPEST swap would be a 5M-GE good sir! LOL.
im plaining on doing an obd1 (non vvti) 2jzge / Auto Budget Build on my X72.
We will see how cheap i can go. i got an engine / trans for $300. needs all of the wiring and accessories. sourced all of them for around $150. Probably $500-1000 on a rebuild depending on what she needs (might just seal it and stuff it in...)
il keep you fellas posted.

Re: engine swap ?
Heh i am over 20,000 with my 92 MX83 and 2JZ GTE VVTI. and thats just parts. I just started puting it all together. it took me 2 years to find a clean doner car and get all the parts. I am still working on the engine. just did the head rebuild by Motor Works
still have to do the auto trany rebuild that will be another $3 to 4 G's. by the time its all done it will be over 30G's easy. but i want it done write the first time.
