Upgrade_Complete: MX73 Drift Car
Hello, About two years ago now, A firend and I were looking for a vehicle for our first attempt at drifting. Well after a failed attempt at purchasing someones blown 13B FC. We found this little gem ready to go to the scrap yard.
Picked her up as a rolling shell for $300, with no engine no trans, and some wiring in the trunk.
Picked up a 7MGE out of a MX83 with quite a story behind it, i will probably elaborate later... for $500
Found a W58 for $100
Some wiring and a radiator form an MKIII in a junk yard for $60 and we had ourselves a running driving cressida.
It is most likely in for some love this winter, though i have still not completely decided what direction i want to take her power plant wise, though I can assure you it won't be a 2j.
Pics of progress.
When I picked her up
While she still didn't run I had her in front of a friends house and this happened, I was not amused...
Wiring, Also I have diagrams for an 86 MX73 if someone needs them
Bag of unnecessary wires
First Start up (open header, she sounded mean, but my ears hurt so she got stock exhaust out of a junk yard.
Some engine pics
"Interior" pictures
Cleaned up the wiring a bit (It may not look like much but the under hood fuse box is inside now and the driver side kick panel box is now in the middle, I will be running Mega Squirt so before I make it pretty I will get that installed and probably run LS2 Coils)
Acura RSX Seats
Exterior pictures
The lowest I have ever had her
Took the turd to a dyno day earlier this summer. It for sure runs like poo on the the stock AFM and I cant wait to go to speed density on MS.
Finally A friend of mine drifting her and popping a tire.
Also I own a 1990 Honda Accord
Lots of mods but probably not crazy interested in them on this site, but here is a pic.
Comments welcome.

Haha hey man thats rad. I should really make on of these things.
I also put RXS seats in mine, well not the passenger seat yet... You got a picture of the brackets you built, or how did you mount them? Just out of curiosity. I'll share how I did it mine after.

Re: Upgrade_Complete: MX73 Drift Car
I cut the ribbing that the stock seats bolt to, ground off the spot welds that hold the front brackets to the RSX seats, then lined up the seat with spacers so it sat level, marked where I wanted it to mount, drilled holes and made spacers for the front, since it isnt even from left side to right side.
Then welded up some brackets to fit in the back and again just bolted it to the welded plate underneath.

Ha ha ha ha ha your fab work is significantly nicer then my thrown together job lol. I hope someday to be mildly good at fabrication, but I am far from good at it. Thumbs up to your work however.
I hope to pick up an AC tig sometime soon and really practice, but that is a ways down the road I fear

good job saving her... I can't believe someone was going to junk that... body seems to be near perfect...
Re: Upgrade_Complete: MX73 Drift Car
A few pictures since it got washed and most of the snow is gone.
I should be getting real suspension under it soon, less sidewall, and more low and I think she will look pretty good.
I am also contemplating picking up a trd 2 way and SSR earls for the front, but haven't decided on either yet.
I will look for the regular members section and post in there, if there is one in the future. Thanks for looking!

Re: Upgrade_Complete: MX73 Drift Car
From my understanding, The TRD could be configured either 1.5 way or 2 way, I will look for a part number.

Re: Upgrade_Complete: MX73 Drift Car
Reason I ask, is that I ordered the TRD diff for our x7 and it is only available as a 1.5 way. Their are some TRD Diff's that are adjustable, but for the x7 I believe the only one you can get is the 1.5 way.
Re: Upgrade_Complete: MX73 Drift Car
She is an underpowered, bad suspension, low angle pig but she tries real hard lol.
