So one could then infer that any rear adjustable spring perch for an AE86 will fit?

They do fit they just need to be welded in cause if for some reason your car were to raise up they would fall out as there is nothing to hold them in other then the weight of the car. I had them from when I had my ke70/ ae83 corolla that also had a solid rear axel. I never got around to usuing them on that car so i used them on the wagon. I tossed the springs that came with them because there is a big weight difference in the 2 cars

Interesting. I was wondering how that kind of setup stayed in. So you weld the threaded collar in place to the chassis seat, and that plus the short stroke Camaro shocks will hold the springs in, eh?

It should stay in on its own because of the weight of the car, but if for some reason i hit a dip or bump to hard and the rear axel was to decompress the whole spring set up could slip out so its welded it. And the collar was welded just to make sure the if the treads failed it stays in the position its in now. Cause honestly im about a inch or 2 off the ground and i do not need to be any lower. The short shocks should hold it in but i dont want to chance it if they fail. If you go this route dont weld the collars together until your sure you got it where you want it. Or dont do it at all. This is not a final setup for me I will redo it all when i got more money. Next go round im going to try and get t3's full front set up and there camber plates and arms for the front. And for the rear i will do the aj spring perches again but with a little softer spring about the same height as the cut springs with the camaro rear agx's again. You are welcome to come by anytime and check this out since your in Va your not to far from MD. Or if you came pass and get me and bring me back i would be glad to help you put yours together

Now this is just a theory but x7 sedan coilovers could work as well since they to also have pin top eye bottom instal points but the wagon shocks install at a angle and sedans install almost strait. Now im not sure if the car will act right cause sedan's have independant susp and wagons have solid rear. So im not sure if the shock mounts of the wagon can take the force of the shocks and spring pushing and pulling and the weight of the car bouncing all on the same mounting point. Plus x7 sedans coilovers cost to much to not work right or fit. I dont have that kind of money to play with

X73 and X72 have completely different rear suspensions. 73's have IRS from an MA60 celica-Supra, whereas the X72's have a solid rear axle mildly similar to MA40 Celica-Supra/AE86/KE70/etc.

Those coilovers are a bad idea all around. The little stub on the axle where the shock connects is not designed to take the weight of the car like the spring perch is. Ditto for the shock mount in the chassis. You'll break something real quick I'll wager. What you want is an adjustable spring perch in the stock location with a good quality shorter shock absorber.

He hit the nail on the head if you have a solid axel i wouldnt suggest usuing a IRS coilover on a solid rear for just like he said and the fact a solid rear axels does have some left and right movement play so combine that + with the extra wieght difference + Improper mounting points = something bad waiting to happen

And juSTZY if you have IRS be happy they actually make coilovers for your car and bite that expensive bullet and buy coilovers.  I guess you could run cut springs but let me tell you I only cut one coil from the bottom of the 350z springs and i have shorter shocks from a heavyer car and its still bouncy, completley cut springs are going to ride worse than my car.  Anything worse than my setup wont be ideal for anybody who has to travel down any road that are not perfect.  If you live somewhere where roads are shitty like i do you will never be able to drive any higher than 40 and you will have to avoid every imperfection in the road. I dont mind a boucy ride and avoiding every little dip but im in my 30's and its starting to get annoying to have to do that all the time.  Just spend the money and do it right

After calculating wheel and tire over all sizes there is no way i can run a 15" wheel like i want to on a low profile 195/45/15 tire like i plan to or my oilpan will be riding on the ground and my frame rails will be gone in a matter of days. In order to keep my ride height where it is now and not go any lower i will have to run 17" wheels which i dont want to do because i wanted period correct vintage jdm wheels. Now i can run 15's with thicker tires but tires any taller than what i have will rub like crazy. That itself isnt a big deal because i could roll my fenders. But my original plan was to not have modified arches and other than the low ride height be a completly stock car minus a motor swap. Usually i buy wheels and tires first before i lower may cars so i know how far to go down. But because this car doesnt have coilovers for it out and i had to build my own susp i couldnt go that route this time. So im debating on selling this car. Plus i miss a manual transmission. So i dont know what to do next? But if anybody wanted to buy this car its for sale for $2500

Thanks for the info. Well I'm running t3 fronts and eibach springs with AGXs rears. I didn't wanna go through the hassle of buying a new set of coilovers, just wanted the rears to be adjustable.

I understand I like how low mine is but honestly i dont need to be as low in the rear. Next go round when i redo everything i wont cut the 350z lowering springs and i will search for a shock thats a little taller. I never really intended to be this low I just wanted to just be barely tucking the top of the tire on a 195/50/15. Im happy with what i got now but i definatly know what to do next

I'm in the middle of a manual swap. It's not cheap, I gotta say. It's gonna be sweet when it's done though.
