What would be the best way to lower my car without spending a lot of money on coilovers?

Lowering springs, But if you do it right it won't be that much cheaper. Don't be cheap.

How much did you cut each spring?

1 1/2 coils in front and 2 on the rear I believe.
just go 1/2 coil at a time. I'm sure there has to be a YouTube video out there. Change to camero shocks for the rear if your a sedan, or mustang shocks if a wagon. Fronts, I used sw20 mr2 rear strut inserts with a shock mount rubber dropped in the tube, maybe two. Rides like its not lowered for daily driving, coil overs are alot better ride though with the right spring choices.
